Can you tell us a bit about how you got your start in fashion?
I’ve wanted to be a fashion designer ever since I was little. It was the kind of job where I would talk about it, knowing that it was too aspirational—which is why I was originally going to major in architecture.  I remember getting my first Vogue while waiting in line at the supermarket with my mom. It was the September 2003 issue. I poured over the pages as soon as I got home and fantasized about my career as an adult, and that was what I wanted to be.

Your collections often have a nostalgic feel. Where do you get your inspiration when creating a new collection?
I often reference elements of my childhood and growing up in New York in the 90s. This season, I was inspired by the show Totally Spies. I loved that all of their accessories and clothes were cute, but they were secretly gadgets.

Describe this year’s show in one sentence.
Sandy Liang SS25 is about the spy girl. Her accessories and glam are secret gadgets. It’s both beautiful and utilitarian.

Makeup artist Romy Soleimani is creating the makeup looks for this year’s show. Why do you think the connection between beauty and fashion is important?
Beauty is an essential piece of storytelling for the girl who walks on the runway. The dewy skin and flushed cheeks for the girl who is running through the city, with a frosted pink lip for a pop of contrast.  The frosted pink lip reminds me of one of the first lipsticks I had when I was little—it was a pinky lilac metallic.

The Inspiration:
“Inspired by Sandy's designs, the makeup look perfectly mirrors the soft pink hues of her fabrics and the metallic sheen from one of her signature bags. We blended two different Estée Lauder lip shades to craft a chalky pastel pink, applied in layers and pressed into the lips, appearing effortlessly imperfect. The skin radiates a healthy glow with glass-like sheen on the cheeks.”

The Routine:
Skin + Face:
Skin is hydrated and energized by pressing Micro Essence Treatment Lotion into the skin, followed by Advanced Night Repair Serum and Revitalizing Supreme+ Moisturizer.

A second skin finish is achieved with the Futurist Brightening Skincealer, applied in small amounts with a soft fluffy brush to brighten the undereye area and conceal only where necessary. Skin is blurred seamlessly but still glows.

Pure Color Envy Lip Oil-Serum is pressed onto the tops of the cheekbones for a subtle ‘glass-like’ finish.

Eyes, Brows & Lashes:
Brows are soft and natural. The Brow Now Stay-in-Place Brow Clear Gel is used only when needed to tame brow hairs. Eyelids and lashes are left bare, with no color or mascara.

Lips:
The lips are the focal point of the look. A chalky pastel pink shade, perfectly complementing the collection’s fabrics, is crafted by blending two Pure Color Whipped Matte Lip Colors in 921 Air Kiss and 925 Social Whirl, with a touch of white pigment added in.

The color is applied in layers: first with a brush, then gently pressed in with fingers for an effortlessly imperfect finish. To create the metallic lip, a final layer of the silver shade from the Pure Color Envy Luxe Eyeshadow Quad in 05 Grey Haze is applied for an iridescent finish.
